Postal Museum's new commemorative sheet with Josef Šíma

Postal Museum Prague issues another of its traditional commemorative sheets to mark the 93th anniversary of its foundation, 18 December 2011. The sheet also marks the 120th anniversary of birth of leading Czech modern painter, illustrator and translator Josef Šíma. The unique souvenir will be available only on the day of issue at the premises of the Postal Museum at Nové mlýny, Prague.

Czech Philately Day in the Postal Museum

This year’s fifth annual Czech Philately Day was held at the premises of Postal Museum, 10 November 2011. The highlights of the one-day event celebrated by all collectors of the tiniest works of art included a ceremony to mark the publication of a new book on the history of post offices in the Czech lands and a signing ceremony unveiling a new Christmas stamp designed by Dušan Kállay and engraved by Miloš Ondráček.

Restored exhibition space to open at the Prague venue

The Prague venue will fully reopen Wednesday, 21 September 2011, following the completion of the restoration works on the murals painted by Josef Navrátil. You can look forward not only to the restored Biedermeier-style paintings by Josef Navrátil but also to a newly stylized period room with portraits of the last owners of the house from the Vávra family. The Nature Protection on Stamps of the Czech Republic exhibition will be reinstalled in the exhibition rooms until 20 November 2011.

Decorative telegraph blanks in interwar Czechoslovakia

The Czech Post's Postal Museum has prepared an exhibition event for the spring season of 2011 aimed at introducing interwar Czechoslovak graphic art to Slovak public. Original designs, both accepted and refused, of telegraph blanks created by leading Czechoslovak artists will be among the exhibits. The source of the exhibits is a vast sub-collection of the Museum, Graphic Art, Drawings, Reproductions, which is a part of the Postal Museum's Collection.
