Foreign stamps supplied by the Universal Postal Union

Block of four Canada stamps 2000 - Whales

This sub-collection features postal stationeries issued by Universal Postal Union (UPU) member countries and exchanged under the Universal Postal Convention (Letter Post Manual - Article RE 105 Postage stamps. Notification of issues and exchange between administrations). Further materials include convolutions of foreign stamps supplied to the Postal Museum by certain postal administrations under bilateral agreements.

Czechoslovakia became a member of the Union in 1920. Since then the sub-collection has grown by complete annual sets of postage stamps from all member countries joined in the Union, as circulated by its International Bureau based in Bern, Switzerland. In exchange, the other member countries have received Czech stamps sent through the International Bureau.
