Trial prints (colour trials)

Trial prints for Titian's Woman at her Toilet (combination of colours: blue, green, yellow and red, black, combination of all colours)

Trial prints (colour trials) document the printing procedure applied to produce print sheets of stamps or postcards. Colour trials are print sheets for individual colours and each combination of colours used to make the final multicolour stamp or postcard. Each set also includes the final product (stamp or postcard).

The oldest trial prints from 1918 are colour trials of the first Czechoslovak Prague Castle stamps. Trial prints for post-1993 Czech stamps and postcards have been regularly added to the 1945-92 prints, which make the bulk of the sub-collection.
