From Friday, April 11, 2026, the Postal Museum in Vyšší Brod is open to visitors for the 2026 season.
The Postal Museum in Vyšší Brod is located within the grounds of a Cistercian monastery. On July 2, 2026, this branch will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its opening.
The extensive exhibition History of Postal Services presents the development and transformation of postal services. Six thematically and chronologically arranged sections cover the beginnings of the Austrian postal system in the 16th–18th centuries, the rapid expansion of postal services during the Industrial Revolution, the emergence of telecommunications in the same period, the interwar Czechoslovak postal service, and finally the era of Czechoslovak communications after World War II. The history of postal transport is illustrated by a unique collection of carriages, wagons, and sleighs.
The Children’s Postal Playground offers unique play elements designed for both entertainment and education of young visitors.
The exhibition Stamps from Around the World features miniature artworks from more than a hundred countries—both traditional and unusual—of various shapes, including wooden, shiny, and embossed designs.
